Helen Mahler, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 6, 2020.

Born in Jersey City in 1929, Helen traded city life for the beach in 1948, when she met her husband, Harry Charles Mahler, and they began their life together in Highlands, NJ, where she raised a family and remained happily married for 64 years until Harry's passing in 2014.

Helen is predeceased by her husband Harry Mahler, her sons Harry and Peter Mahler, her parents, John and Elizabeth Koshuta, and her four siblings: Irene Thiel, Bette Maypother, Dorothy Kruse, and John Koshuta.

She leaves with love her three sisters: Martha Petruzzi, Mary Koshuta, and Marge Koshuta-Bernstock and her husband Larry Bernstock; brother-in-law Harold Kruse; her two daughters, Linda Mahler and her husband Edward Champlin, and Dawn Stout; her three grandchildren, Katie Loughran and her husband Joseph Ujj, Michael Loughran, and Sarah Stout; her two great-grandchildren, Mimi and Eero Ujj; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen will be forever remembered for the joy she brought to her family, her beach club (Ship Ahoy, of which she was a member since the 1960s), and her baking, especially for her carrot cake, a recipe still followed with love three generations later.

While we are sad that we are unable to celebrate Helen's life together at this time, please remember her in your hearts and prayers. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
