William R. Heidt, “Bill”, 87, of Little Silver, NJ and Bonita Beach, FL, passed away August 7, after a long and beautiful life.

Born in Cliffside Park, NJ, he graduated Cliffside High School class of 1946 and Rutgers University class of 1950.  He completed graduate studies at NYU.  Bill served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bill was Vice-President and partner of J. Aaron & Co., the commodity division of Goldman-Sachs, NYC.  He is an honorary member of the Green Coffee Association. He retired in 1985 after a fulfilling and successful career.

Bill married his high school sweetheart Eileen and together they moved to Lincroft, NJ where they resided for 25 years.  He was a founding member and coach of the Lincroft Little League and an 18 year volunteer and Captain of the Lincroft Fire Company.  He and Eileen have resided in Little Silver for the past 21 years.

An avid sports fan, Bill was an outstanding golfer, terrific tennis player, diehard Giants fan, and the number one fan of his grandchildren’s assorted sporting ventures, rarely missing a game.  His other passions were gardening, the beach, pizza and Johnny Red, rocks.

Bill loved life.  His convictions were strong and his heart strong.  He will be remembered as a devoted family man and a loyal and dedicated friend.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Rose, and his brother Charles.  He is survived by the love of his life, Eileen, and his children Robert & Betsey Heidt, Susan & Chris Quinn, and Jay & Patti Heidt, all of Middletown.  His spirit lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Lauren & her husband Ben, Jennifer, Kelly, Billy, Ryan, Brian and Alexandra.

Visitation will be held at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ, Friday August 12th, 4 to 8 pm, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be made to the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund, PO Box 35, Holmdel, NJ 07733, a local organization supporting wounded military personnel.
