Daniel Louis Terpening, 75, suddenly passed away Friday, 22 April 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center of complications from a stroke with his family by his side.
Dan graduated from Galesburg High School in Illinois and from Open Bible College in Des Moines, Iowa. While there, he met Sharon at a local church. They married and just celebrated their 54th anniversary the day before his stroke.
After his college graduation and with the draft looming, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and took his training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. His 23-year Army career took him around the world with assignments in Nebraska, France, Kansas, Viet Nam, Washington, D.C., Germany, New York and South Korea. His last assignment was with the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He retired as a Master Sergeant in May 1986, then worked at Telos Corporation in Shrewsbury and for JStor, Portico and the Princeton University Library system, fully retiring in 2011.
