William F. Philburn, Jr. was born in Irvington, NJ, in 1923 to William F. Philburn, Sr. and Louise. He lived in Belmar, NJ, graduated from St. Rose High School, was a proud veteran of the US Navy and a Seton Hall graduate Class of 1948. William was an avid alumni supporter and devoted Pirates Men's basketball fan. He was an active member of St. James Catholic Church, Red Bank, NJ and sang in the Church choir, was an usher and Eucharistic Minister. William was a member of the Diocese of Trenton church choir and volunteered for numerous church activities. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Volunteer at several local organizations-ARC, Meals in Wheels, The Barn and annual Knights of Columbus corned beef & cabbage dinners. William was a Boy Scout troop leader and volunteered at Forestburg Scout Reservation, NY. He was a generous donator to charities such as Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Boys Town, and the St. Labre Indian School, Montana.
William worked at Sancor, US Steel, Esso, Hess Oil, Metropolitan Life, and the Monmouth County Park System. His biggest joys were his family, friends and singing and dancing with the love of his life, Marion, who predeceased him in 2015.
