Joseph F. Hegner of Little Silver, died on Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Hospital. He was born in Arlington NJ, the son of Joseph & Alice Hegner, and he is survived by his wife of fifty years Maryleigh Hegner; his son, Andrew (Rachel); and two daughters Allison and Lauren (Alex), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Amelia, Reese and Abigail.

Joe was raised in Arlington, NJ. He attended St. Benedicts Preparatory School and went on to graduate from Rutgers University. After serving in the US ARMY, he began his career at United Airlines. Loving both the airline industry and traveling, he remained with United for the next 45 years, which included executing all travel arrangements for the New York Giants.

Besides being an avid Giants fan, he loved Jazz, Big Band music, traveling and the beach.

Joe embraced life, and could often be found at a parade or concert. He had a knack for viewing the ordinary as extraordinary, and never passed up a chance to enjoy life. He instilled in his children a great appreciation for coffee ice cream, varied musical genres and travel.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701, on Thursday, July 22nd from 3 to 6 pm, with a prayer service at 5:30. Funeral Services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Joe’s name to Children International, 200 East Red Bridge Rd, P.O. Box 219055, Kansas City, MO 64121 or a charity of your choice.
