Anne M. Dugan passed away peacefully in her sleep in her apartment at the continuing care center of Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the age of 93.

Anne was born on March 23, 1928 to Fred Taylor Dugan and Ethel Burroughs Dugan of East Orange, New Jersey. She was active as a camp counselor in New Hampshire during both her high school and college years, which formed the foundation of her interest in teaching. Anne graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Education and, following internships, she became a full-time elementary school teacher in Red Bank, NJ, where she taught for 42 years before her retirement.

Anne was an avid and excellent golfer. While her drives may not have been the longest, they were always down the middle of the fairway, and she was notorious for her stellar short game around the green. She simultaneously belonged to multiple country clubs, including Old Orchard Country Club in Eatontown, NJ, where she organized and won several club championships. Anne developed her love for the game of golf at a young age through learning from and playing with her father.

Anne was also active in her local church, Methodist in her earlier years and Presbyterian in her later years. She was also a regular volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and appreciated providing outreach with both food and fellowship to those in need.

During summer breaks from school, Anne would also enjoy traveling to play golf at interesting golf courses around the country, including Pinehurst, Hilton Head, Florida, Michigan and the Poconos. She also loved the beach throughout the year, and was a member of Seabright Beach Club.

Anne was predeceased by her parents, as well as her two brothers, Fred B. Dugan and Richard T. Dugan. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Phyllis (& William) Gill of Charlotte, NC; Nancy Dugan of New York City; William (& Michele) Dugan of Brewster, NY; Richard Dugan of New Fairfield, CT; and James Dugan of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews: James (& Suzanne) Dugan of Wenham, MA; David (& Stefanie) Dugan of Milwaukee, WI; and Susan (& Jeffrey) Kleinschmidt of Charlotte, NC; as well as 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. in the Music Room of Village Center at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ. Anne will be laid to rest with a private burial in the Dugan Family plot at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, NJ.
