Clinton Vail Kuehl of Shrewsbury, New Jersey died on January 11, 2022 at the age of 75.
Clinton grew up in Rumson, NJ, graduated from Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.
As a young man, he established the Clinton Kuehl Construction Company, becoming a highly respected building contractor in Monmouth County for 50 years. He used his gifts to envision, draft, and execute designs with precision and skill.
With a curious mind and love of history he read extensively. Of particular interest to him was the American Civil War, its battles, and the strategies employed by its generals.
He was a collector of vintage wines. Using his photographic memory of wine labels, he enjoyed visiting wine shops to find special bottles. He loved the hunt, and nothing made him happier than sharing a glass or two or three with family and friends.
Clinton enjoyed relaxing and simultaneously stressing out while watching football and NASCAR races.
He will be remembered for his goodness, kindness, sincerity, generosity, and sense of humor. All those who knew him loved him and he always returned that love.
No one was loved more than his cherished wife of 42 years, Carolyn, who Clinton most affectionately called “Kid.”
Clinton is survived by his wife Carolyn Kerbs Kuehl, his brothers Frederick, Donald, and Steven, and his sisters Kathie Pokoik and Carolyn Mouser.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at 10 am on February 5, 2022 at The Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Rd, Fair Haven, NJ 07704. Mass will follow at 11 am. Interment will be private. Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, NJ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
