Robert Carl Vaughan died on May 10, 2023 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center. He was born in August 1941 in Long Branch, NJ and lived in Little Silver for a total of 66 years. Robin was a 1959 graduate of Red Bank High School and a member of the Princeton University Class of 1965.
Robin served in the Army Reserve for several years at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and Fort Hancock on Sandy Hook. Following that service, he taught psychology at Monmouth College and pursued a PhD at the City College of New York. Robin spent the majority of his working career as a Strategic Planner for Prudential Property and Casualty in Holmdel, then retiring to pursue a second career in child support probation enforcement for the State of New Jersey.
Robin was an avid reader, an athlete and sports fan, a dedicated correspondent with friends near and far, and an enthusiastic supporter of the endeavors of his children and grandchildren. He was especially close to his classmates from the Markham Place School in Little Silver, hosting several reunions at his home. Robin and his family also particularly enjoyed summers at The Sands Beach Club in Sea Bright.
He is survived by Diane Wise Vaughan, his wife of 56 years; his brother John Jay Vaughan and his wife Kathleen of Tinton Falls; his daughter Vera and her husband Richard Hough of Highlands; his son William and his wife Jessica of Oceanport; six grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street in Red Bank on Wednesday, May 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held the following morning, Thursday May 25th, at 11 a.m., also at the Thompson Memorial Home.
