It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Dorothy Lenartowicz. Dorothy or Dottie as she liked to be called died on Monday July 10th at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank with her beloved children by her side. Dottie was 89 years young!
Dottie was born on May 2nd, 1934 in Elizabeth New Jersey to her parents John and Adele Stephanik. She grew up in Elizabeth and graduated from Battin High School and attended Union Junior College in Cranford. Dottie had such fond memories of growing up with all of her cousins and aunts and uncles. She loved sharing stories with us about living life in simpler times and how she loved being very close with her family. Dottie loved going to dances with friends at the Bayway Community Center where she met her beloved future husband Charles.
Dottie always loved a good party and was always the last to leave. She was always dressed to the nines and enjoyed chatting it up with everyone she met. She was always kind to everyone and raised her children to do the same. She was a true lady and the epitome of class. Dottie loved going out to dinner with her beloved Charles and she especially loved cleaning! She took great pride in her home which was always spotless! But her greatest love of all were her grandchildren and her new great grand baby Melanie. She was an amazing Memom and Grandma to Kristin, Daniel, Richie and Valerie from the day they were born.
Dottie was a great lover of animals especially dogs. She always carried biscuits in her purse just in case she met any pups when she was out and about. Her favorites were her grand pups Dante and Sophia who would be out of control excited when they saw her car pull up!
Dottie worked for many years at Exxon in Linden as a secretary and later on when the family moved to Lincroft she worked for 20 years at AT&T where she met many dear friends. She also enjoyed ice skating, skiing, knitting, needlepoint, traveling to the New England states and playing with her grandchildren at the beach when they were young. She was a member of St Leos Roman Catholic Church and attended mass every Sunday.
Dottie is predeceased by her parents, John and Adele Stephanik, her beloved husband Charles who passed in 2017, and her dear brother John Robert Stephanik.
Dottie leaves behind her loving son Richard of Cream Ridge, her loving daughter Heidi Soldo and her husband Jim of Ocean, beloved sister Mary Jane Lundgren and husband Art of Berkeley Heights. She also leaves behind the lights of her life her beloved granddaughter Kristin and her husband Michael Fitzgerald and great granddaughter Melanie of Seattle Wa, beloved grandson Daniel Wright of Azle, TX, loving grandson Richard Jr. of Bayville and beloved granddaughter Valerie of Allentown, NJ. Dottie is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much.
Visitation for Dottie will be held on Monday, July 17th from 4-7pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 18th at 10:15 am at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, 50 Hurleys Ln, Lincroft, NJ 07738.
