Albert Edwin Burdge, Jr., 90, left us September 27th, 2023. He was born in Neptune, New Jersey and resided in Little Silver, New Jersey for 84 years. Ed graduated Red Bank High School and joined the US Army in 1953, where he was stationed in Panama. Ed and his wife, Sandra, married October 9th, 1955 and raised their four children in Little Silver. He and his father owned and operated Burdge’s Garage in Little Silver for 76 years. Ed joined the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company in 1966 and was Chief Engineer for over 20 years. Ed was a charter member of the North Jersey and Tri-Counties Chapters of SPAAMFAA. He was a past President and Director of the North Jersey Chapter and Director of the Tri-Counties Chapter. He was a member of the NJ Fire Museum & Fallen Firefighters Memorial. He was a long time very active member and served on the Board of Directors for more than 20 years. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed restoring antique fire trucks and apparatus.
Ed is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Sandra, and his children Bonnie Braun and her husband, Joseph Braun, Becky DeVore, Albert Burdge III, and Theresa Burdge. He is also survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tabitha, Lauren, Austin, Michael, Frank, Vanessa, Lena, Iliana and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 5th, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 6th, 2023 at Thompson Memorial Home followed by graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 49 Church St, Little Silver, NJ 07739.
