Francis "Frank" X. Davis, Jr.

Francis X. Davis, Jr. , “Frank”, 76, of Rumson, NJ passed away on November 2 from progressive heart failure.

Frank grew up in Fair Haven, NJ and lived in Rumson for the last 40 years.  He attended Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft and went on to St. Joseph’s College, Indiana, where he earned a degree in psychology. It was there where he met his loving wife of 54 years.

Frank spent most of his working life at Verizon as a director of network engineering. During much of that time, he also served as a captain in the National Guard.  After an early retirement from Verizon, he started his handyman business and thoroughly enjoyed that second career and his connection with the community.  His Boat Ramp Oldtimers “membership” was the highlight of many of his afternoons.

Frank also served as an EMT on the Rumson First Aid squad.   He volunteered several summers at Camp Quality, a camp for children with cancer. Throughout his life, he freely shared his skills and talents with others.  His daughter often referred to him as MacGyver for his ability to find a solution to any problem.  As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed cycling, kayaking, hiking, and skiing and especially loved spending time in the Adirondacks.

Frank is survived by his wife Terese (T) Davis (nee Hoovler), older daughter Jennifer Davis Clough (Bill), their children George and Annie, and younger daughter Emily Davis.  He is also survived by his sister, Mary Davis Welch, and many loving relatives on both sides of the family.

He dearly loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.

Farewell, Papa. We will miss your kind heart, artistic soul, generous spirit, and wicked sense of humor. You are loved!

Arrangements are private and under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, NJ.
