Lesley Gable Fitzgerald, 43, of Tinton Falls, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2024. Lesley was born on May 23, 1980 in Atlantic City, NJ to George and LouAnne (nee Donahue) Gable. She grew up in Cape May, NJ. During her youth, she was involved in dance, field hockey, softball and cheerleading. She graduated from Lower Cape May Regional High School Class of 1998. She attended West Chester University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education in 2003. During her time in college, she was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity and involved in many philanthropic events. In 2013, she obtained a Master’s degree in School and Mental Health Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania, in which she was the most proud.
Lesley began her career as a Special Education teacher at Wildwood High School where she impacted many students lives. After having her daughter, Josephine, she continued her career, closer to home, teaching at Academy Charter High School. Lesley was an exceptional teacher, and had a true passion and love for it. As a special education teacher, she worked very hard to inspire her students to be the best and show them their highest potential. She spent much of her personal time putting extra effort into enriching her student lives. She always tried to make learning fun and enjoyable, and her students knew it. In the last few months, there was an outpouring of letters from her students to share the impact that she had made on their lives. The number of lives she changed during her time as an educator is innumerable.
Lesley met her wife Dawn in 2013 and married in 2016. In 2018, they were blessed and welcomed their miracle baby, their beautiful daughter Josephine Lauren Fitzgerald. Josephine was the light and love of Lesley’s life and she was so proud and happy to be her mommy every single day.
Lesley was one of the most thoughtful, kind and creative people. She spent much of her time thinking of others and was always making gifts and crafts for everyone in her life. She enjoyed all things colorful, sparkly, and glittery. She never gave a gift without a handmade bow attached and a thoughtful card. Lesley truly touched the lives of so many, more than she was even aware of. Lesley loved the beach and the sounds of the ocean, and the warmth of the sun. She had a zest for life and enjoyed every moment with her family and friends. She had a way of making the best out of any situation and finding the beauty in everyday life.
She is predeceased by her father George Gable, aunt Dawn Friedland, cousin Jeffrey Friedland, maternal grandparents MaryLou and Wesley Donahue and paternal grandparents Bert and Margaret Gable.
Lesley’s legacy of love, kindness, and sparkles will be carried on by her loving wife Dawn and their daughter Josephine; her mother Lou Anne Gable of Cape May, NJ; sister Laura Gable; father and mother-in-law Dennis and Marie Fitzgerald of Bethel, CT; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews.
