Joseph Berardi, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on January 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. Born on September 24, 1956, in Staten Island, NY to the late Anthony and Anna Berardi. Joseph lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family.
Joseph was a hobbyist enthusiast, who collected model trains, R/C model airplanes, and enjoyed golfing. In his later years, Joseph was a monitor in The Villages (Florida) woodworking shop, where he enjoyed woodworking and painting. He was also an RV enthusiast, and loved to travel the East Coast with his wife. He never met a hobby he didn’t like!
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Joan Berardi, who stood by his side through life's journey, sharing in both joyous and challenging moments. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Tara Murray, and her husband, Sean Murray, son Joseph Berardi and daughter Elizabeth Berardi who were the center of his world and brought him immense pride and joy with their accomplishments and warmth.
Joseph's presence extended beyond his immediate family to his brother, Anthony Berardi, and sister-in-law Christine Berardi, brother-in-law Kevin Kerrigan and James Kerrigan, caring sister-in-law Mary Kerrigan, and sister-in-law Carolyn Roth and her husband Eric Roth, and numerous nieces and nephews who admired and adored him. His kindness, wisdom, and guidance touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Throughout his life, Joseph exemplified resilience, integrity, and generosity. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1975 – 1981 where he learned to be an electrician. Joseph was also a proud member of the FDNY Building Services Unit, as a licensed Electrician from 1981 - 2011. His unwavering faith and strength inspired those around him, offering solace and support during times of adversity. Joseph's legacy of compassion and selflessness will continue to resonate, serving as a beacon of light for generations to come.
As we mourn the loss of Joseph Berardi, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives. His memory will forever be cherished, his spirit enduring in our hearts as we honor his remarkable life and the love he shared with us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or St. Jude, in honor of Joseph's memory.
A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 4:00-7:00. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance and tribute to a man whose presence illuminated our lives and whose spirit will forever guide us. A right of Christian burial will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Middletown, NJ at 10:00 AM.
