John “Bubba” Archer Dorsey, 66, of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born in Long Branch, NJ and raised in Tinton Falls, NJ. John was self-employed at AutoBar Systems of NJ in Red Bank, which he co-owned with his older brother Albert for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his father, Albert H. Dorsey Jr. and his mother Catherine Archer Dorsey. John is survived by his wife Pat, two daughters Angela Maher (John), Anna Dorsey (Alex Ferencz), two siblings Albert (Mary) and Juanita (Bill), many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
John grew up boating with his family and learned to sail. He loved traveling in and driving the family motorhome. He loved visiting with his cousins and spent many summers with them at his grandmother's house in Ocean City, NJ.
John loved life and made a new friend everywhere he went. He was the life of the party and welcomed everyone around him with open arms. He graduated high school from Croydon Hall in Leonardo, NJ (class of 1975). John met Pat at Monmouth University in 1979 and they were inseparable ever since. They were happily married for over 40 years. He loved his Monmouth University fraternity brothers from Delta Sigma Phi and enjoyed many reunions with them.
Bubba loved all of his friends unconditionally and would do anything for them. Summers were spent hanging around his pool with him behind the barbeque grilling Jersey burgers.
John loved canoeing and camping. Joining the Camp Splenda crew on the Delaware River was a highlight of his year. He loved playing in the dart league and marching in the Belmar St. Patrick's Day parade with the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of Belmar.
John loved volleyball, softball, and golf. He coached Anna’s Howell Heat softball team for years. He cheered “his girls” on in every sport. His daughters were the light of his life and always in his thoughts. His greatest achievement was raising them from little girls into the women they are today.
Bubba was a handyman extraordinaire, great bear-hugger, epic cannonball splasher, beer aficionado, pumpkin carver, woodworker, and Hallmark movie lover. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing him.
