On September 11th 2024 our beloved mother, Sandra R. McCowan, passed away surrounded by her family. Born in Columbus, GA, she was a devoted military wife and mother, raising her children with strength and honor.
Sandra earned her degree in accounting, and she worked as such for the government until her retirement with the closing of Ft. Monmouth in New Jersey. Sandra was a member of Monmouth County Cotillion, and she was a devout member of Emanual Baptist Church in Tinton Falls.
Sandra is survived by her three children: Steven Willis (Shelly), Dawn Shields (Matthew), and James McCowan III (affectionately known as Jay). Sandra is also survived by her grandchildren: Madison, Sidney, Rosario, Elijah, Darrin, Makayla and Maddie; and Sandra’s siblings: Doris Estelle, Stanley McKinney, and Gail Franks. She was predeceased by her husband, James C. McCowan Jr. and by her parents and her three brothers.
We will miss her grace and her smile. Rest in peace dear sweet mother. We Love You.
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18th 2024, at 11 am at Woodbine Cemetery, 14 Maple Ave, Oceanport, NJ. Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, NJ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
