Maureen D. Hintelmann

Maureen D. Hintelmann passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 at Riverview Medical Center. Maureen was raised in Sea Bright, NJ. She graduated from Sea Bright Grammar School and Red Bank Catholic High School (Class of ‘59). She continued her education at Montclair State University graduating with a teaching degree, and later Monmouth University where she earned a Master’s degree in Administration. Maureen met the love of her life, Tom Hintelmann, while working a summer job at Sea Bright Beach Club. They married in 1965 and raised their family in Red Bank.

She began her teaching career at Deane-Porter Elementary School in Rumson, NJ. When Maureen’s children were born, she took a break from teaching to be a full-time mother to Tom and Nancy. She returned to the classroom several years later at Saint James Elementary School where she taught for many years, and eventually became their beloved principal. After a long career at Saint James, she moved across the driveway to her alma mater, Red Bank Catholic High School. Maureen served as the Director of Admissions and worked closely with many students who were her “Casey Ambassadors”.

Maureen enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Maureen was a parishioner at Saint James Roman Catholic Church where she served on the Parish Council. It was Maureen’s strong faith that carried her through good times and bad. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved her family and friends more than words can say. She had a personality full of life and love, and had kind things to say about everyone she met. She was truly an angel.

Maureen was predeceased by Tom, her loving husband of 57 years, her parents Captain George and Ella Olsen Dougherty and her beloved sister Patsy Kelly. She is survived by her son Tom and wife Mindy (Tinton Falls) and her daughter Nancy Murphy and husband Sean (Red Bank). She is also survived by her six beloved grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Tommy, Michael, Kaitlin and Katherine as well as her loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15th from 4-7 PM at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ.
