Sandra (Sandy) Sue Wells

Sandra (Sandy) Sue Wells (77) passed away March 9, 2025. Born August 5, 1947, Sandy was a longtime resident of Little Silver, NJ, which she took great pride in and continued to support the community throughout her life.

Sandy was born to John Ferrogiari and Gayle (Matheny) Ferrogiari in Sault Sainte Marie, MI. They soon relocated to Asbury Park, NJ where she and her sister, Pat, attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. In 1955, they permanently moved to Little Silver, NJ where her father opened The Sugar Bar luncheonette, where Sandy and her sister helped and supported the family business. Sandy graduated from Markham Place School and Red Bank High School (Class of 1965), before earning a teaching degree at Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, in 1969.

In 1969, she married Keith Wells, and they later returned to Little Silver in 1977 where they raised their family and remain to this day. Their first son, Gregory, was born in 1974, followed by Jeffrey in 1979. Sandy dedicated her life to her family and her community. She started volunteering for the Little Silver Library in 1981, where she eventually became an employee until her retirement in 2022. Sandy also spent over ten years writing a weekly column, Our Town, about Little Silver happenings for the Two River Times. In addition, she was a founding member and archivist of the Springsteen Special Collection, now held at Monmouth University.

She spent her free time at Chapel Beach Club in the summers for over four decades, adored her annual vacations on Cape Cod, was an avid reader, and later in life, enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Keith, sons Gregory and his fiancé Jill Careri of Highlands, NJ, and Jeffrey and his wife Lori of Larchmont, NY, grandchildren Charlotte and Anderson Wells, and her sister Pat Coyne and her husband Mark.

The family will host an open house Celebration of Life on March 30th from 11 am - 2 pm at the Woman’s Club of Little Silver, 111 Church St, Little Silver, NJ 07739. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to the Friends of the Little Silver Library. Information on how to donate is at https://www.littlesilverlibrary.org/friends-of-the-little-silver-library/. Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank, NJ has been entrusted with the arrangements.
