Anthony Joseph Cavallaro, lovingly known as Tony, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 89. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tony was cherished by all who knew him for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
Born on March 27, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey, Tony spent the majority of his life in his beloved home state. He later moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, where he enjoyed retirement and community life, before returning to New Jersey in 2015 to be closer to family and lifelong friends.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Lisa Cavallaro (Thomas White); his stepchildren, Eric Peduto (Stephanie), Michael Peduto (Alison), and Stephanie Peduto; and his adored grandchildren: Ava Rose, Massimo, Emily, August, Joseph, and Andrew. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rita, with whom he shared many happy years.
A natural people-person, Tony had a successful career in sales and was known for cultivating deep and lasting friendships wherever he went. He had a magnetic personality and a sharp wit, often described as the life of the party. Many joked he missed his true calling as an event planner.
Tony had a passion for fishing and was especially proud to have founded a thriving fishing club in Bonita Springs. He also had a love for travel, a deep interest in World War II history, and a steadfast loyalty to his favorite football teams.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Brighton Gardens in Middletown, New Jersey. Their compassion and care meant the world to Tony and his family; they truly became his extended family in his later years.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd, from 10-12 pm with a service at 11:30 am at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad Street, Red Bank, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society https://bestfriends.org, an organization close to Tony’s heart.
Tony’s laughter, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
