Garrett (“Gary”) A. Corson III, 84, of Neptune passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025 after a long illness. Born in Long Branch and raised in Lincroft, he attended Lincoln Technical School. Gary married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Dorothy Mazza, in 1961. They had two children, Joseph and Audra, and built a wonderful life.
While words can hardly capture the impact of his life, we remember Gary’s kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit. He was a proud husband, father, Pop Pop, co-worker, uncle, friend and volunteer firefighter. Always a sports fan, Gary was an enthusiastic supporter of the Monmouth Regional High School Falcons, while his children, Audra and Joseph, were high school athletes. He continued his support for over 30 years while Audra coached multiple sports and when his grandchildren participated in school activities and sports.
Gary was a proud and dedicated firefighter with the Red Bank Fire Department (Westside Hose Company). He served his community with honor, leadership and compassion for 29 years and was Chief of the Department in 1972. Over his working career, Gary owned his own business, worked for Bell Telephone for many years and drove a bus for Murphy Bus Company.
Gary had a special place in his heart for animals and had many dogs and cats throughout his life. Most recently, he enjoyed the loyal companionship of his granddogs, Raleigh and Gabby. His favorite hobby was spending time with his family. Family dinners, birthday celebrations, holidays and other large and small events gave him great joy.
Gary touched the lives of many through his generosity and warmth. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a smile, or lending a listening ear, Gary’s presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him. May we honor Gary’s memory by continuing to live with the same grace and kindness that he embodied every day.
