Herminio Mercado, 74, of Long Branch, passed away on March 17, 2026. He was born to Ponciano Mercado, Sr and Mercedes Grospe.
Hermie enjoyed being retired. He loved playing pickleball, tennis, dancing, karaoke, listening to live bands and walking at the boardwalk. He was in the Philippine Air Force in his younger years until settling in NJ. He worked tirelessly for several years at Blonder Tongue. He enjoyed traveling after retirement. He was always surrounded by his family and friends. He would bring laughter and joy no matter where he was.
He was called MacGyver by his love ones. He can always fix anything. His generous and kind heart has helped so many in the US and overseas. He was very well loved by everyone.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Nelma who he shared countless of years of love and devotion. His two children Abigail, 41 and Kenneth, 36, his grandson Jaden, 18 and several families in Philippines.
Visitation is Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 12pm to 3 pm, with a prayer service at 2:30 pm, at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ.
Interment will be private.
