Theodore “Ted” Giannechini

Theodore “Ted” Giannechini

With great love we remember Theodore “Ted” Giannechini, who passed on April 1, 2026 at the age of 76. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. Ted fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, demonstrating strength, perseverance, and quiet dignity. Throughout it all, he remained devoted to his family, always putting the needs of his wife and children first.

Born in 1949 in Rahway, New Jersey, Ted graduated from Rahway High School in 1967. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1969 to 1975. He married Linda Skryha on June 16, 1973, and together they raised two children, Ted and Ashley, and shared countless cherished moments with their four grandchildren, Aubrey, Brighton, Cole, and Sunny. He earned degrees from Newark College of Engineering (1974) and NJIT (1978, master’s in structural engineering).

Ted had a distinguished career in civil engineering, beginning with the Monmouth County Department of Engineering in 1974 and eventually serving as Monmouth County Engineer from 1992 to 2004. After retiring from the County, he continued in his field at several firms, culminating as president and CEO of Cherry Weber & Associates from 2009 until his retirement in 2020. He was most admired for his integrity, fairness, and unwavering dedication to his work and community.

Ted found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was lifelong fan of the Giants and the Yankees, especially watching them with his son and daughter. He enjoyed rides and trips with Linda, exploring new places. He adored his boat, taking delight in fishing outings with his son, son-in-law, brother, and friends. He most treasured spending time with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore Arthur and Helen Marus Giannechini. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Ted and his wife Miranda, Ashley and her husband Michael Lazewski; his brother, Larry Giannechini, and his wife Margaret; his nephew Larry Giannechini and his beloved grandchildren.

Ted’s life leaves a lasting legacy of strength, integrity and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
