Richard Nachbaur, of Sea Bright, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, at the age of 81.

Richard was born on February 23, 1945, in Hackensack, New Jersey. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Rutherford before attending trade school, where he studied Design Drafting. That education led to a career he truly enjoyed, first as a design draftsman and later as a CAD designer for civil engineering projects. He worked in the field for many years before retiring in March 2010.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Corporal. He carried the values of service, humility, and hard work with him throughout his life.

On October 3, 1970, Richard married Gail, together they shared 55 years of marriage, creating a home centered on faith, family, and unconditional love.

If you knew Richard, you knew where he was happiest—at the beach with his family. Whether it was a summer afternoon by the ocean, watching one of his favorite teams play, or spending time with his grandchildren, those simple moments meant the most to him. He loved being "Grampa" and never missed an opportunity to make his grandchildren smile. They were, without question, one of the greatest joys of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail; his son, Michael; his daughter, Christine; and his treasured grandchildren, Mira, Miles, Ryan, Allison, Emma, Daniel, and Elsie. He also leaves behind extended family, lifelong friends, and many others who were fortunate enough to know his gentle spirit.

Richard will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man whose actions spoke louder than words. He was steady, dependable, and always there when someone needed him. His family will miss his quiet humor, his wisdom, and the comfort of simply having him nearby. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years we shared with him. His love will remain with us, and his memory will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11 am at Holy Cross Church, 30 Ward Ave, Rumson, NJ.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Parker Family Health Center, 211 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 are greatly appreciated.
