Obituaries

Barbara P. Salimbene, 86, (Smith) of Barnegat, NJ passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Barbara was born in Newark, New Jersey,and  later relocated to North Brunswick NJ. She worked as a Housekeeping Manager at the Holiday Inn where she was recognized for her superior performance and hard work. Upon retiring she then moved to the Barnegat Area with her husband Roger.  Thereafter, she soon came out of Retirement to work with Starbound National Talent with family and friends.

Through those years she lived life fully with laughter, traveling all over the US, meeting wonderful friends and enjoyed some of the happiest times of her life. She then officially retired and devoted her time, love, and wisdom to her family. 

Barbara’s favorite pastime was shopping, traveling, and being with her family. She was known for her elegance and sense of style, and trips to Disney World. In 2011 she fulfilled a long-held wish to visit her Irish heritage, traveling to Ireland with her grandson Patrick.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and bright smile, comfort, strength, kindness, devotion and the love she poured into her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for the legacy she will leave with them.

She is survived by her two children, Richard Salimbene and Rita McGinn; five grandchildren, Richard, Christopher, Patrick, Kaitlyn, and Heather; four great-grandchildren, Aubree, Caden, Siena, and Richard Patrick, with another great-grandchild expected in November 2026; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, of 62 years Roger Salimbene.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2 to 5 pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10 am at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
