Dr. Hiroshi Iwamaye, M.D.

Dr. Hiroshi Iwamaye, M.D., OB-GYN, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2018, following his courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Iwamaye was born in Wakayama, Japan and grew up in Southern California.  He was the oldest child of Mitsuhiro Frank Iwamaye and Hideko Iwamaye (nee Matsumoko).

He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1967, received a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California Los Angeles in 1971, and received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in 1975.  

Dr. Iwamaye practiced as an obstetrician-gynecologist in New York and in Red Bank for more than 42 years and delivered thousands of babies.  Dr. Iwamaye began practicing with Cantor and Iwamaye and later opened Total Healthcare for Women.  Dr. Iwamaye also was associated with Riverview Medical Center for many years.  He was a life-long UCLA and Mets fan. 

Dr. Iwamaye is survived by his loving wife, Jean Stark Iwamaye, his daughter Amy Iwamaye (Lu Fan Cai), his sons, Matthew Iwamaye (Melissa), Andrew Iwamaye (Tram), and Daniel Iwamaye (Graeme), his three grandchildren, Liem Iwamaye, Hana Iwamaye, and Max Cai, his mother Hideko Iwamaye, his sisters, June Matsushita (Jerry) and Grace Toy (Jeff), and many dear colleagues, friends and former patients.  

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, NJ 07701 in the Rechnitz Conference Center, Fifth Floor of the Blaisdell Pavilion.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA.
