Richard Canneto, age 80, passed away on November 2, 2018.
Richard was born in Long Branch, NJ in 1938 to the late Vincenzo and Letizia Canneto. The youngest of eight children, he was predeceased by his brothers Frank, James, John and Samuel as well as sisters Louise Foggia and Mary Petro. Surviving is his sister Anna Payne of Texas.
Richard retired in 1995 as Deputy Chief of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Prior to his career at the Prosecutor's Office, Richard served as a police officer for the Little Silver Police Department and was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, Fort Dix. Many friends and coworkers considered him "a true friend, a good detective and a great man."
Richard was predeceased in 2001 by his wife Grace. They shared 41 years of marriage residing in Little Silver where they raised their four children. Surviving are son Mark Canneto and daughter-in-law Denise, daughter Tammy Bruno and son-in-law Bobby, son Scott Canneto and daughter-in-law Maddy, daughter Gina Daniels and son-in-law Gary.
Richard was blessed with six grandchildren, Christopher Bruno and his wife Christine, Amanda Bruno, Anthony Bruno and his wife Alyssa, Melissa Canneto, Richard Canneto, and David Daniels, along with two great granddaughters, Olivia Bruno and Alexa Bruno.
Private funeral services were held at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport under the direction of Thompson Memorial Home of Red Bank. If desired, a donation may be made in Richard's honor to: The Monmouth County Retired Detectives Association, P.O. Box 189, West Long Branch, NJ 07764.
