Suzanne Chamberlain Drummond

San Francisco born, Sea Bright raised, world traveler. Suzanne passed peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's, surrounded by family and loved ones, on May 25, 2017.

She is survived by her husband William; children Leslie, Nicole, & Blake; son-in-law Dave; grandchildren KC, Thomas, Jack, Skylar, Avery, & McKenna; and her siblings Virginia and OJ. She is predeceased by her brother Campbell.

Alexander Amodio III

Alexander Amodio III passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 18th at his home in Red Bank. Alex was 22. He attended St. Leo the Great and Middletown South High School. He will always be remembered for his love of art, compassion, kindness, big hugs and shining smile. Alex's struggles have ended. He is finally at peace. Heaven has gained an angel and he will be waiting to greet us all one day.

Philip Binaco

Philip Binaco, age 86, passed away on May 21, 2017 at Meridian Nursing & Rehabilitation at Shrewsbury.

Raised in New Shrewsbury (now Tinton Falls), he was the ninth of ten children born to R. Fred and Rosina Binaco. He was predeceased by three sisters, Speranza Falbo, Adeline Bellovus, and Violet Alvino, and four brothers, Patsy, Felix, George and Charles Binaco, and his first grandson, David Daniel Binaco.

Charlie E. Burden

Charlie E. Burden, 75 of Red Bank, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017, with his loving family by his side.  Charlie was born in Newark to Elmer and Dorothy Burden.  He served his Country in the US Navy and was a member of the Floor Covering Union, Local 2212, in Union until his retirement in 2003.

Charlie enjoyed freshwater fishing and softball, he was an avid newspaper reader, a weather enthusiast and a member of “The Brothers Lunch Club”.

Rita Jardine

On May 6, 2017, with family at her side, Rita Stackable Jardine passed away in Red Bank, NJ at age 93.  Rita was a 60 year resident of Rumson, NJ where she raised her family with her husband, Thomas V. Jardine.  The couple met and married in 1942 during World War Two, when Tom was serving as an aviator in the Navy. Their marriage and love affair lasted 67 years, spanning seven decades until his passing in 2009.

Rita was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution as well as the Junior League of Monmouth County where she was an active member for over 60 years, making her one of the longest participating members of the League. Rita joined the league in 1951 when the Junior League was known as the Junior Service League where she volunteered at their Thrift Shop, the Follies, and Marlboro Psychiatric Center to mention a few. She also served as Treasurer. Her husband Tom, also served as the League’s attorney. Rita earned her degree in 1986 at the age of 63 from Brookdale Community College where she studied communications and hosted a Radio program.

Sharon Pyle

Sharon Pyle, 65 of Atlantic Highlands, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017, with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Long Branch to Richard and Annette Smithson.  She earned her nursing degree from Brookdale Community College and was a Registered Nurse at Riverview Medical Center before her retirement.

Donald Lynn Daily

Donald Lynn Daily, 64 of Red Bank, passed away on May 8, 2017.  Donald was born to James and Johnnie Lou Ball Daily in Long Branch, NJ.  He lived in Old Bridge before moving to Red Bank.  He was a member of the Matawan Lodge 192 Free & Accepted Masons.  Don was a self-employed Builder for 40 years in Old Bridge and Red Bank, as well as a talented musician.  Music was his passion as he played in Skin Davis, MTD, among many other bands.

Kenneth Hayden Curchin

Kenneth Hayden Curchin, 100 of Fair Haven, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2017 at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank.  He was a life-long resident of Monmouth County, born on April 19, 1917 in Fair Haven.  His family moved to Red Bank and then Little Silver.  He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1935, working many jobs before and after to help support his mother and father during the Great Depression.  At 17, he learned to fly beginning his lifelong love of aviation.  He was drafted in 1941 before World War II and spent fourteen months in Northern British Columbia and the Yukon building the ALCAN Highway, where temperatures plunged to -70 degrees during winter nights.  Fulfilling a dream, he then qualified for the Aviation Cadets and became a B-17 pilot.  As part of the 487th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force, he flew missions into Germany to bomb the railroads that were moving supplies to the German armies.  After the war, he returned to his boyhood home and joined his father at Curchin’s Barber Shop on Linden Place in Red Bank, where he cut hair until he retired at age 74.

Emilia M. Siciliano

Emilia M. Siciliano, Borough of Shrewsbury Mayor (1999 to 2008) and Borough Councilwoman for 11 years died peacefully at the age of 90 on April 27, 2017.   She was a woman of many talents: a wife accompanying her sportswriter husband on assignments; a parent participating in all elementary, high school, college activities of her daughters while commuting to New York City to fulfill her 30-year career as a designer of lingerie, loungewear and casual dresses; and a public servant actively involved in government and politics in the Borough of Shrewsbury and Monmouth County.

Mrs. Siciliano began her 34 years of service to Shrewsbury as a member and president of the Shrewsbury Republican Club.  In 1968, she was appointed to the Borough Council to fill a vacancy.  In 1973, she was asked by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders to establish and direct the Monmouth County Department of Consumer Affairs.  She served two terms as Director, 1974-1976 and 1979-1982.  As a result of her activities and her newspaper columns on consumer affairs, Mrs. Siciliano later became Vice President of Administration for an international manufacturing company.

John P. Kennedy

John P. Kennedy, 81, Oceanport, NJ, formerly of Rumson, passed away, peacefully, on April 27, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  Born in Brooklyn, John moved to Rumson at the age of 5 years old, and graduated from Holy Cross Grammar School, and Red Bank Catholic.  John was a Basketball player at RBC, and had many fond memories of his experiences on the hard court, which ultimately led to his volunteer coaching roles at Holy Cross and various other youth basketball leagues.  John was in the Army Reserve and was a proud 25-year Volunteer Member (and past President) of the Oceanic Hook and Ladder Fire Department.  Career-wise, John worked for JCP&L for many years, and thereafter, he worked for Henderson Brothers, on the New York Stock Exchange.  He retired from the Stock Exchange in 2000.  John enjoyed his post-retirement years by playing golf, walking the boardwalk, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Magnolia "Midge" Edwards Jetter

Magnolia “Midge” Edwards Jetter passed away on April 24, 2017 at the age of 102 at the Atrium in Red Bank, NJ.   She was born on October 23, 1914 in Smithfield, VA where she graduated from local schools.  At 18 she came to live with an older sister in Sea Bright, NJ where she met her husband, Jesse S. Jetter, an electronics engineer who later retired from Fort Monmouth.  They lived in Woodbury, NJ and Long Branch, NJ before building a home in Fair Haven where she lived for over 62 years.  In 2011, at the age of 97, she moved to the Atrium in Red Bank.

A few of Midge’s many lifetime joys included spending time with family and friends, serving on numerous boards and committees at Fisk Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fair Haven, gardening, sewing (especially her designer African-American, child-size dolls), knitting and crocheting, feeding the numerous birds that frequented her yard (especially in winter), and being a kind caretaker to family, friends and perfect strangers.   She loved people and all were welcomed to her home and were often greeted with a slice of warm pound cake and a cup of coffee or tea.  She was especially proud of attending the March on Washington in 1963 and hearing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have A Dream” speech in person, having lived through 18 U.S. Presidents, and having campaigned and voted for President Barack Obama as well as receiving a birthday card from him when she turned 97.
