Dr. John D. Powers

Dr. John D. Powers (Jack), 92, passed away on March 19, 2016, after a full and wonderful life.

He was born in Red Bank, NJ, attended Red Bank public schools and later graduated from Colgate University where he studied pre-med. This was interrupted by three years of duty in the US Navy. After graduating from Midshipman School at Northwestern University in Chicago and sub-chaser school in Miami, he was deployed to the Pacific theater during the latter part of World War II just after the Iwo Jima invasion aboard the USS LSM 141. After discharge from the Navy and completing college he went to Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia followed by an internship in Lansing, Michigan. He returned to Fair Haven with his wife, Eleanor (Clayton) 'Arny' Powers whom he had married during junior year of medical school.

Margaret Lamb Maguire

Margaret Lamb Maguire passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in the comfort of her home with the complete love of her family. Margaret was born in the Bronx. Her family moved to North Plainfield, NJ when she was five years old. She was a Fair Haven resident for over 50 years.

She was an extremely bright woman, skipping two grades and graduating North Plainfield High School at 16 years old. She graduated Seton Hall University with her Bachelors in Nursing. Margaret began her nursing career at the VNA in Plainfield as a Public Health Nurse. While she was both a part time and full time school nurse at Monmouth Regional High School, she pursued her Masters in Social Work. She began her Social Work career at MRHS in 1977. In 1989 she retired to spend more time with her family.

Margaret E. Baxter

Margaret E. Baxter, 97, of Middletown, passed away on March 12, 2016. Margaret was born to William and Edith Cooper in Orange, NJ. She was a Secretary for the First Baptist Church in Red Bank. She retired in 1995 after many years of service. Margaret was a member of the Church for over 60 years and was the longest living member of the Church.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1995 and her son Frank in 2014. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Siemons of Wall, NJ, and her sister-in-law.

Noel Kennedy

Ole Pedersen

Ole Pedersen, 76 of Fair Haven, passed away on March 12, 2016. Ole was born to Knud and Inger Pedersen in Copenhagen, Denmark. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1960, Ole served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a Sales Manager for Pan American Airlines and DHL before retiring in 2005. A long-time resident of Fair Haven, Ole was a member of the Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club in Oceanport and the Polly's Pond Sailing Group. He was also a member of the Root Beer and Checker Club of Fair Haven.

Frederick A. Jardine, Sr.

Frederick A. Jardine, 86, of Red Bank, died at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank on March 12, 2016. He was born in Kearney, New Jersey. He moved to Schenectady, NY in 1945 and Westfield, NJ in 1966.

Mr. Jardine served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1949 and received an Honorable Discharge. He worked in the printing industry for 50 years. He was with Bench, Inc. of Schenectady, and vice president of sales with Niagara Systems of Buffalo. He became fundraising marketing manager at Webcraft Technologies, Inc. of North Brunswick and retired in 1999. He married Dorothy Kathan of Little Silver in 1999 and moved to Shrewsbury in 2004.

Marie Guoba

Marie Guoba, a proud, longtime resident of the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her adoring family, on March 9, 2016.

She was also loved and cared for by the many compassionate aides at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lincroft, where she resided for almost two years.

Marie was a religious woman who gave selflessly to others. No job was ever too big or too difficult for her. She was an active member of the Hennessey-Baione Post 712 Ladies Auxiliary and the Knights of Lithuania C-29 in Newark.

Cooking and entertaining for her family and friends was her passion. Her home was always open to all for dinners and celebrations.

John T. Noonan, Jr.

John T. Noonan, Jr. (Putt-Putt), 81 of Fair Haven, passed away peacefully at Riverview Medical Center on March 9, 2016, of Acute Leukemia and Metatastic Melanoma. John was the son of John T. and Daisy Noonan, he was raised in Rumson and was a resident of Fair Haven for 55 years. John was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven and a member of the Sandlass Beach Club.

John was a graduate of Rumson High School, playing varsity football and track, and competing in championship events. John Served his country in the 644th Tank Battalion of the New Jersey National Guard.

Arline F. King

Arline F. King, 90, of Mace Chasm Road, Keeseville, and more recently of Prospect Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Meadowbrook Healthcare, Plattsburgh, NY.

She was born in Teaneck, NJ, the daughter of William and Jacqueline (Brosnan) Feste.

Arline grew up in New Jersey, living near the Jersey shore. In 1945 she met Robert King in the local post office of Highlands, NJ. In July of the same year she and Robert married and Arline was introduced to the North Country, when Robert brought her to his family's summer house in Port Douglas, NY near Lake Champlain, for their honeymoon.

William S. "Bill" Henderson

William S. "Bill" Henderson, 67 of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Middletown, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016. William was a graduate of Middletown Township High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He had a 40 year railroad career, working for the Central Railroad of New Jersey, the Norfolk Western, the Kansas City Southern/Louisiana Arkansas, the Missouri Pacific and the Union Pacific. William served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Transportation Corps in Ft. Eustis, VA and Saigon, RVN.

Alice V. Flanagan

Alice V. Flanagan (nee Feighan), 90, of Kearny and Fair Haven, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016. Alice, the daughter of Michael and Catherine Feighan, who emigrated from Ireland, was born and raised in Kearny and was a resident of Fair Haven for 45 years. Her family included her brother Peter Feighan, who was killed in action in World War II, and two sisters Catherine Franz (deceased) and Anita Miller of Long Island, NY.

Alice attended St. Stephens primary school in Kearny and graduated from Kearny High School in 1943. She worked 25 years for the Social Security Administration in Neptune before retiring in 2002.

Alice was married to her beloved husband and life-long friend, Arthur J. Flanagan, Sr. in St. Stephen's Church in 1948.
