Margaret Emily Borden

Margaret Emily Borden passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the age of 93.  Margaret was born on July 30, 1926 in Shrewsbury, NJ, the youngest child of the late Charles F. and Helen R. Borden. She is also pre-deceased by her brother Francis R. Borden and sister, Helen L. Close.   

Margaret is survived by 4 nieces and spouses: Helen B. Spencer, Deborah M. (Gary) Shilling, Abagail M. (David Coolican), and Cynthia L. Close.  Additionally, Margaret is survived by 3 great nieces: Lauren (Chris) Deford, Dr. Lindsay (Dr. Cyprian Broodbank) Spencer-Broodbank, Megan L. Hoffman, and 5 great great nieces and nephews:Annabel and Hunter Deford, Aurora and Edmund Broodbank and Maddox Hoffman.

Catherine Arline Connelly Goldberg

We are truly heartbroken to share the news that our dear and precious Catherine Arline Connelly Goldberg passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2020 at her home in Middletown, NJ. She was in the loving presence of her husband, Dan, and her adoring family. Cathy was 67 years old. Born December 3, 1952 in Denver, CO to Colonel Frank P Connelly, Jr, and Phyliss Marshall Connelly, she was wife of Daniel B Goldberg, MD since 1976, and mother to their 2 sons, Adam of New York, NY and Jeffrey of Arvada, CO. She was a devoted sister to Frank P Connelly III of San Antonio, TX, sisters-in-law with Helen Crouse of Raleigh, NC, and Julie Goldberg of Brookdale, CA, and brother-in-law, David Goldberg of Madison, CT. She was a loving grandmother to Logan Alexander Goldberg (son of Jeffrey and Tracy) and Emerson Grace Goldberg (daughter of Adam and Nicole).

Sheila Egan Haese

Sheila Egan Haese passed away at Riverview Medical Center on April 25, 2020, from multiple medical complications and cancer. Sheila was born in 1946 and was 73 years old. She lived with her family in Little Silver, NJ, until her marriage to Craig Haese in 1971, when they began their longtime residency in Fair Haven.

During Sheila’s youth, she was an avid tennis player, swimmer, sailor, and enjoyed drawing. At Red Bank High School, her alma mater, she was chosen for the twirling squad and was a member of the art club.

Because Craig was a proud Fair Haven fireman, Sheila often assisted the Ladies’ Auxiliary on the food preparation for the annual fair. Her adult passions were her many friends at the firehouse, The Sitting Duck, and The Pour House; her caring neighbors; and her many cats, the last of whom are Sassy and Sadie. She loved hearing and telling great stories and was a supporter of many animal charities.

Lawrence Douglas Kerrigan

Lawrence Douglas Kerrigan, 87, of Indianapolis passed away on April 21, 2020. He was born in Atlantic Highlands, NJ and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, NJ and Monmouth College in West Long Branch, NJ. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. Larry spent his career working in the metal finishing industry as an engineer and successfully owned and operated his own company for 25 years before retiring.

Francis X. Gilhool (Frank)

Francis X. Gilhool (Frank) left us on 4/19/20.  He was born in Carbondale, PA and had 5 brothers and 5 sisters.  Frank and his wife Ann lived in Rumson, NJ for 30 years before moving to Shrewsbury, NJ for the past 20 years. 

An avid runner Frank completed 8 marathons including NYC which was his favorite.  In high school he was a newspaper carrier and a Soda Jerk at McCawleys Drug Store.  After high school Frank moved to Washington, DC and joined the FBI.  He served in battle in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge.  After the war he went to college at East Stroudsburg Teacher's College.  Frank also was a bible salesman and impressed one of his customers so much that he had him come to work for him at NY Life Ins. Co.  Frank then opened his own insurance company G.F. Financial along with his partner Ed Foster. 

Francis (Fran) Gorey

Francis (Fran) Gorey, beloved father, grandfather and great–grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2020, two months short of his 98th birthday. He was at home in Shrewsbury, NJ under the loving care of his son and daughter-in-law. Born on June 18, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he grew up in Edwardsville PA. He also lived in CT and CA before settling in Montville, NJ, where he raised three children with his wife of 64 years, Renee.

Fran had a lifelong love of music, tap dancing as a young boy and taking up the trumpet at an early age. He went on to play trumpet professionally with the Johnny Menko Orchestra, performing live on stage and on a weekly radio show for several years. He had the opportunity to join a big band at the height of that era but by then had met and married the love of his life, Renee Boulay, and he wasn’t willing to leave her behind to perform on the road. He continued to play the trumpet throughout his life, including in the choir at St. Pius X Church in Montville and with the Presbyaires choral group that entertained at nursing homes. He especially enjoyed playing “Happy Birthday” for family and friends on their special days, including his jazzed-up trumpet version.

Patricia R. MacLaughlin

Patricia R. MacLaughlin, age 86, of Neptune, NJ peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 16th, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Born in Orange, she lived in Tinton Falls for more than 50 years. She attended St. Elizabeth’s Academy, Convent Station and graduated from the School of Education at Fordham University, NY.  She went on to teach for 35 years and retired from St. Mary's Elementary School in Deal. Pat had a strong religious faith and was a parishioner of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank.  

Roberta Marie Lisi

Roberta Marie Lisi went to be with the Lord  on April 15, 2020. She was born February of 1953 to Mary Lattig Scholl and Edmund R. Scholl in Norfolk Virginia. She attended Perth Amboy High School. She furthered her education and was employed as a phlebotomist for many years at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was also a retired Restaurant Manager for Charlie Brown's.

Many described her as a second mother open to talking about any subject. She was loving, empathetic, outspoken woman who was passionate about animals and veterans. 
 
One of the greatest things she instilled in her children, through her own journey, was to have strength in the face of adversity. It was always important to her to say I love you when you say goodbye. 

Norma Adams Bibby

Norma Adams Bibby, aged 87 years, died April 14, 2020. She was residing at Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown, NJ.

Norma was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, daughter of the late Edgar and Dorothy Adams, sister to the late Nancy Adams Riley and brother- in- law Robert “Bob” Riley. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth, NJ in 1950. She then went to work as a secretary at Elizabeth Iron Works and met her beloved husband William (Bill) Bibby. They were married for sixty years before Bill passed away in 2011.

Norma is survived by daughter, Christine Bibby Stout, son-in-law William Paul Stout, and grandchildren, Anthony and Julia Constantine, and Sarah Stout.

Norma and Bill lived in Fanwood, NJ for 33 years before moving to Readington, NJ where they lived for 25 years.

Ethel May (Pat) Patton Robinson

Ethel May (Pat) Patton Robinson passed away peacefully at Bayshore Health Care Center on April 14th.

She was born on May 4th, 1920 in Darby, PA to Eliza Still Patton and Thomas Flood Patton.

Pat graduated from Darby High School in 1938 and from Penn State in 1942 with a BS degree in health and physical education. While at Penn State, she played for the US National Women’s Traveling Field Hockey Team. She was also a proud member of Chi Omega and, later in life of Pan Hellenic.

During WWII, Pat served as a WAVE at the naval base in Oakland, CA, where she was the director of the athletic program. While there she played on the WAVES women’s field hockey team.

Pat married William H. Robinson, Jr. (Robby) in 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. They moved to the Rumson/Fair Haven area in 1953 where they raised their family.

William B. "Bill" Havens

William B. “Bill” Havens, age 56 years, of Shrewsbury, NJ, died suddenly on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, July 30, 1963, son of June Lindland Havens and the late Richard Havens, Bill was raised in Fair Haven, NJ and lived for many years in Little Silver, NJ, prior to moving to Shrewsbury in 2013.

The life of this gentle giant is not ended by this obituary, but rather it is the hope that all reading this get a glimpse into some of the reasons that made Bill so special and why he will surely live on in the hearts and in the actions of so many.

Bill was a 1982 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, and went on to attend Elizabethtown College where he played baseball and soccer. An outstanding athlete from when he was a child, Bill was an accomplished pitcher.
