Mary Patricia Dougherty, 93, of Middletown, passed away at home on May 15, 2016. She was born and raised in Newark. She graduated from St Vincent's Academy in Newark and Georgian Court College in Lakewood. She her received her Masters in Education from Seton Hall. She taught elementary school in the Jersey City School system for over 40 years and retired in 1990. She moved with her sister Irene to Middletown in 1985, and has resided there since.

Patricia was a communicant of the Church of Saint Catharine in Holmdel. She was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the social concerns ministry. She volunteered with Birthright in Red Bank for many years.

She is survived by sisters Irene, Joan Montgomery, Josephine Ziegler, and Mary Bennett (Clay), a brother Henry (Sandy), and a sister-in-law Carol Dougherty. She was a devoted aunt to 32 nieces and nephews, over 40 grand nieces and nephews, and 4 great grand nieces and nephews.

Michael Patrick Allingham, age 18, passed away in his home in Holmdel on the night of May 15, 2016. From the time he could walk and talk, Mikey was a special young man with the biggest of hearts. He had an unwavering devotion to animals throughout his entire life, being a dedicated worker for Little Bit Farms in Howell and Camp Bow-Wow in Eatontown, volunteering through the Monmouth County SPCA and Action for Animals at CBA, committing to being a vegan, and being a pet owner himself with his dog, Buster, and his four bunnies. Aside from caring for animals, the remainder of Mikey's time was usually spent working on the yearbook where he was Editor-in-chief for the past 3 years at CBA, volunteering at the Red Bank Charter School, participating on the Varsity Mock Trial, or listening to his favorite artist and role model, Katy Perry.

Mikey had a smile that lit up any room and such passion that anyone he met knew he would continue to change the world for the better.

Mrs. Ayres., 93, formerly of Little Silver, died May 11, 2016, at Chapin Hill Nursing Home in Red Bank. She had been a resident of Little Silver for over 64 years. She was retired from the Little Silver Public Library after having worked there for over 40 years, after which she continued to volunteer. She served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a Link Trainer Instructor. She was a member and active leader of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bank.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bob and her brother Lyle. She is survived by her brother Richard Bjelland and his wife JoAnn of Portland Oregon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Adria of Little Silver, and Robert and Carol of Monmouth, Oregon; a daughter, Linda Ayres of Middletown; And 5 grandchildren, Courtney, Patrick, Liam, Katie, and Kayla and her husband Casey.

Virginia E. Watkins, age 93, of Little Silver, passed away at her home that she made with her son, Frank "Dusty" Bublin on Friday, May 13, 2016. Virginia was formerly of Red Bank, Florida and then returned to Little Silver.

George T. Brew, age 88, of Sea Bright. George was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Sea Bright for many years. George passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016. George attended Holy Cross Church. He was an avid marathon runner, running many times with his friend , George Sheehan. He often spoke Latin. George was a history teacher for the Rumson School System at Forrestdale School. After his retirement he tutored many students.

Joseph T. Slavin died suddenly in his office May 10, 2016. He was 58 years old. Joe was a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and Belmont Abbey College. He had a 35 year long career as a sales trader and stock analyst on Wall Street beginning with E.F. Hutton, L.S. Rothchild, Fahnestock, Oppenheimer and was currently employed at Legends Securities. Joe is survived by his three children, Joseph Kenney 22, of West Chester, PA, Thomas Edward, 21 of San Francisco, CA, Isabelle Marie, 18 of Rumson; his ex-wife of 19 years, Kathleen Kenney of Rumson; his father Joseph Nickolas Slavin and stepmother Veronica Delgado Slavin of Nova Scotia; siblings Norah Laliberte, of Moosup, CT, Anne Marie Tomaszewski of Jupiter, FL, Kelly Broking of Warwick, NY, Robert Slavin of Boston, MA, and JoAnn Schottman of Howell, NJ and many nieces and nephews who adored him. Joe was predeceased by his mother Ann Slavin of NY, NY.

Dolores S. MacConnachie, 89, died on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Monmouth Medical Center.

Dolores was born in Rahway, NJ and moved to Rumson. After raising her 7 children in North Caldwell, NJ, she went to work at TECO Electric Company in Caldwell and then to Hobart Corporation in Fairfield. She retired after 15 years and moved to Monmouth Beach to spend summer days on the beach with her family.

Dolores was predeceased by her parents, James and Catherine Shea; her sister Margaret Connor; and her two brothers Jim and Jack Shea. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Anderson, Locust; son, Ian and his wife Linda of Monroe, NC; daughters Dolores, Rumson; Pegeen Patton, Little Silver; Linda Ward and her husband Tim, Little Silver; Susan Cavanaugh and her husband Dave, Highland Lakes; Laurie Bassett, Clermont, FL; Kerry Obado and her husband Fred, Spotswood; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Karl Burns Litzelman, 97, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016. He was born in Blakely, Pa. on April 6th, 1919. He was proud to have been a Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout and being in the AV club in high school. He always loved gadgets, "new technology" and music - he started organ lessons when he was 65. He met the love of his life, Marjorie, while attending college at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was a loving and devoted husband for 74 years. Karl was in WW II and served in the Pacific theater where he received a Purple Heart. He was ultimately stationed at Ft Monmouth with the Signal Corp, was active in the NJ National Guard and retired from the Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel. He then worked on the private sector and retired from Shrewsbury State Bank as a Business Development Officer in 1992.

He is remembered as a true gentleman with a friendly loving spirit and will be missed by all who knew him.

Daniel Louis Terpening, 75, suddenly passed away Friday, 22 April 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center of complications from a stroke with his family by his side.

Dan graduated from Galesburg High School in Illinois and from Open Bible College in Des Moines, Iowa. While there, he met Sharon at a local church. They married and just celebrated their 54th anniversary the day before his stroke.

After his college graduation and with the draft looming, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and took his training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. His 23-year Army career took him around the world with assignments in Nebraska, France, Kansas, Viet Nam, Washington, D.C., Germany, New York and South Korea. His last assignment was with the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He retired as a Master Sergeant in May 1986, then worked at Telos Corporation in Shrewsbury and for JStor, Portico and the Princeton University Library system, fully retiring in 2011.

Marilyn M. Tukis (Cerny), of Fair Haven passed away on April 18, 2016. Marilyn was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Fair Haven for the last 52 years before recently re-locating to Arbor Terrace Senior Living, Middletown.

In addition to raising four children, Marilyn was employed by the Fair Haven Public Schools as a lunchroom aid and crossing guard for more than 25 years, retiring in 2007.

Marilyn took great pleasure in sitting on the beach, reading and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed 35 summers at Ship Ahoy Beach Club where she made many long time friendships both on and off the beach. She was an active member and Treasurer of the Fair Haven Seniors and enjoyed weekly card games, luncheons and bus trips. For the past few years she could be seen volunteering at the local election polls. After re-locating to Arbor Terrace in September, Marilyn quickly became engaged in bingo, luncheons and outings with the other residents. She loved being active no matter the circumstances.
