Maureen (Meaney) Ferejohn Connolly

Maureen (Meaney) Ferejohn Connolly passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lincroft, New Jersey. Maureen was born on April 4, 1926, to Anna (Stewart) and Martin H. Meaney in Brooklyn, New York where she formed lifelong memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers. She lived many years in Elizabeth, New Jersey before moving to Garden City Long Island and finally settling in Middletown, New Jersey.

She was predeceased by her husbands, John William Ferejohn and Gerard Connolly; her brother Martin Meaney; sisters Anne Meaney and Grace Brophy; as well as her beloved grandson, Eric Dirmann.

Maureen is remembered for her generous spirit and willingness to help those in need. She learned to operate a hemodialysis machine when her first husband developed kidney failure just as she met all of life’s challenges with grace and courage, serving as an inspiration to her children and grandchildren to whom she was devoted.

Clare Catherine Bowler Schumann

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend Clare Catherine Bowler Schumann passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Chagrin Falls, OH, on March 25, 2021. Clare was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Herbert Schumann, her parents James and Clare Bowler, and her brother, Edward Bowler. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Cleary of Ponte Vedra, FL, Justine (Kevin) Starrett of Chagrin Falls, OH, Adrienne (Ray Hickman) Doherty of Red Bank, NJ, her grandchildren Sam Starrett ( Whitney), James Starrett, Cameron Starrett, Christian Carroll and great-grandson Brady Carroll. Clare will be deeply missed by her nieces, Mary Beth Bowler, and Teresa Bowler, nephews Edward Bowler, Christopher (Linda) Bowler, and Quinn Bowler, and by stepchildren Mark (Loretta) Schumann, Richard (Treacy) Schumann and Laura Schumann (Dan Pol) and their families.

Clare was a devout parishioner of St. James Church, Red Bank.

Gene W. Clark

Gene W. Clark – The son of Gene and Cynthia Clark of Deal, NJ, grew up in Deal and attended the Deal Elementary School and Asbury Park High School. Gene was an avid and excellent golfer. He was the owner G. C. Contractors. Gene was at one time, years ago, a member of the Deal Fire Department.

He was a very loving, compassionate and giving man to his family and all those who were blessed to know him. Gene was a good son, brother, father and friend. A selfless and giving man, he gave of himself from his heart. He may no longer be with us but he shall live within our hearts and minds. He will be missed much more than he thought he would be. Gene was a young and active 72 years of age when God took him home on April 2, 2021, passing away at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.

Dr. Frederick Charles Blades

Dr. Frederick Charles Blades, a much beloved ophthalmologist in Red Bank, NJ for over 40 years passed away Friday, March 26^th. He was 78 years old.

Dr. Blades graduated from Avon Grammar School in 1957, Asbury Park High School in 1961 and the University of Maine in 1965 summa cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Following his life-long dream to become a doctor, Fred attended the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, receiving his medical degree in 1969. He joined the Navy and as Lieutenant Commander interned at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (VA) and was certified as a Naval Flight Surgeon following flight training at Pensacola Florida Naval Air Station. He completed his ophthalmology residency at George Washington University Hospital and was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Carolyn (Cally) Pivano Tendrick

Carolyn (Cally) Pivano Tendrick, 56, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 30th, 2021. She was born in Jersey City and grew up in Union City. Cally raised her family in Jackson before settling in Red Bank.

She is predeceased by her parents Gus and Anne Pivano, her twin sister Sue, and her brother Danny. She leaves behind her loving husband Larry Tendrick, her son David Porta and his wife Christa and her other son Rich Porta and his wife Kendra, as well as her four beautiful grandchildren Parker, Jack, Ava, and Brielle. She is also survived by her sister Linda. Cally will be greatly missed by her nieces Elisha, Christine, Lisa and Michelle along with her other nieces and nephews, as well as so many family and friends that have been graced by her presence in this world.

Paul Fuller Timolat

Paul Fuller Timolat died peacefully at home on March 23, 2021, at the age of 74. Paul was born in New York and was a longtime resident of the Rumson community. He was a graduate of Rumson Country Day School, the Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, The American School in Switzerland and Franklin & Marsh College. His greatest delight was spending family time and special occasions with his daughter, her husband, his grandchildren and the grand dogs.

Paul was a strong advocate and supporter of land conservation in Monmouth County and always eager to travel. He enjoyed the social life of a number of area clubs including the Rumson County Club, the Navesink Country Club, the Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club and the Seabright Beach Club. He was a longtime member of the Union League Club of New York and of the River Club of New York.

Harriet Ruth Luckenbill

Harriet Ruth Luckenbill, known to many as "Nana", age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Chelsea Assisted Living Home, a caring and loving community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Harriet was born on July 3rd, 1924, in Farmingdale, New York to her parents, Mabel and Ernest Pinney and was the eldest of two children. She was predeceased by her husband John, sister Mary, and granddaughter Kristin. She is survived by her three children, John and wife Janice Luckenbill, Bob Luckenbill and his wife Josie Sutherland, and Nancy and her husband John Niro; five grandchildren Jennifer Brush, John III and wife Lisa Luckenbill, Joseph Luckenbill, C.J. Brush and Michael Niro; and two great-grandchildren, William and Andrew Luckenbill.

After completing high school as salutatorian of her graduating class, Harriet obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Education from Barnard College at Columbia University (NYC). She taught kindergarten and third grade in Glen Cove, NY and Shrewsbury, NJ.

Robert P. Hershkowitz, MD

Robert P. Hershkowitz, MD of West Long Branch, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Jersey City and had been a resident of West Long Branch for the better part of 47 years. A graduate of Muhlenberg College and Hahnemann School of Medicine, Bob had been a practicing Internist in Long Branch for over 45 years.

Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine; children, Scott, Brian, and his wife Nycole, Dawn Adamo and her husband John, Eric Grissom and his wife Casey; sisters, Diane Salzberger and Shelley Mandy; sisters-in-law, Sharon Hershkowitz and Pat Boden; and grandchildren, Ellie, Matthew, Kate, Gavin, Hannah, Ingrid, Emily, Avery, Ava, Reilly, Cooper; several nieces and nephews; and his furry friend Fluffy. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bernie and Harriet (Nadelhaft); brother, Jerry; and brother-in-law, Paul Salzberger.

Robert was his given name but he was Bob to most, Pop-pop to his grandkids, Bobby to his sisters and select friends, Hersh to his colleagues and Doc to everyone.

Mary Thompson

Beloved wife, mother, grandma and dear friend, Mary Thompson passed away peacefully at her home in Red Bank, NJ, on March 18, 2021. Born in the UK in 1945, Mary came to the US as a baby and grew up on Staten Island.

Always interested in the well-being of others less fortunate, she spent her career fundraising for the Society for Seamen’s Children and Community Resources, both nonprofit organizations providing services to disadvantaged children and adults. In addition, she embedded herself in her community, volunteering wherever she could put her many talents to good use, most recently Atlantic Highlands and Red Bank.

She had a love of gardening and was happiest with her “hands in the dirt” creating beautiful gardens both at home and in town.

Elizabeth C. McKenty (nee Lisa Guenther)

Elizabeth C. McKenty (nee Lisa Guenther) left us unexpectedly on March 9, 2021, just shy of her 60^th birthday. Born in Red Bank, NJ, Lisa lived in Neptune Twp. for the past 20 years with long-term friend & companion Donald “Skooter” Garbarine. Predeceased by parents, Betty (Connors) & William E. Guenther, Lisa leaves behind her four siblings, Linda Conklin (Douglas) of Rancho Murieta, CA; Gregory Guenther (Victoria) of Savannah, GA; William Guenther (Gail) of Fernandina Beach, FL.; and Bruce Guenther (Nan Marie) of Tinton Falls, NJ; her seven nieces and nephews, Christine, Catherine, Eric, Anna, Will, Laura & Caitlin, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lisa was a loving, caring, talented individual who always saw the good in everyone she met. A graduate of Montclair State College (1983), Lisa had several career paths, the latest of which was as a substitute teacher. An avid baker, Lisa often dressed in pink and had a great smile. She loved the change of seasons and the holidays. Most of all, she loved her family. Lisa, you are missed, and we will think of you often as we carry your memory forward.

Donald J. White

Donald J. White passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2021. He was born in Midland Park, NJ, and lived in Ridgewood and Rumson before moving to Shrewsbury.

Don graduated from Ridgewood High School, Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant (jg) aboard minesweepers during the Korean War.

Don had a long fulfilling career in finance and was a private investor. It began when he joined the trust department of Bankers Trust Company. In 1966 he was Founder, Director and Vice President of William D. Witter, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange firm specializing in investment research for institutions. Subsequently, he served as Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank, serving in the Middle East Division of the International Department, New Jersey National Bank and United National Bank. In 1988 he joined Central Jersey Bank where he was Vice President in charge of trust investments until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
